Incidental spills and scuffs on carpet and
upholstery often need professional attention. Despite the volume of information
available to the do-it-yourselfer on the internet, it is important to remember
that inadequate or improper spotting techniques often create permanent stains.
For more, see our frequently asked
questions.
There are steps that can be taken to minimize
potential damage from a spot or spill. First, maintain current
fabric
protection on your valued carpets, rugs and upholstery. Next,
ACT QUICKLY! Blot liquid spills with a dry,
white absorbent cloth. Do not rub! Continue to blot until the area is
completely dry. Semi-solid spills should be scraped up with a rounded spoon or
other instrument that will not pull or tear the textile fibers. Dry spills may
be vacuumed until completely removed. Adding moisture to a dry spill may create
additional problems so avoid the temptation to do so. The final step is to have
the spot professionally cleaned, even if the spot has disappeared. Often
residues left will attract soil and create another spot after the fact.
The sooner a spot is given attention, the better the chance for success
(100% removal). Stains from acids, dyes and bleaches, and many pen inks are
almost always permanent. The food dyes in sports drinks are often permanent as
well. Most oil and water-based stains are either soluble or dissolvable and
therefore are highly cleanable.
Scheduling: Staff is available
to answer questions and schedule appointments from 8am - 4pm weekdays. In order
to achieve the best spot cleaning results, you will be asked several questions
regarding the spot or spill in need of cleaning.
These questions
generally include: |
| Nature of the spill (e.g.,
chocolate, pesto sauce, paw prints). |
The attempts made to clean the
spot. NOTE: It is important to be forthright regarding the
products used to clean a spot (e.g. Oxyclean, Nature's Miracle). Our Textile
Care Specialist will need to address both the spot and the cleaning product
used. |
| A description of item to be
cleaned (e.g., sofa, wall-to-wall carpet). |
| The location (e.g., living
room, master bedroom). |
| Whether the item has been
previously cleaned. |
| Whether the item has been
treated with fabric protection. |
|
All services are C.O.D. Visa,
MasterCard, American Express and personal checks accepted.
